The Week that Changed the World

One extraordinary week turned the course of history. This series follows Jesus from the cheering crowds of Palm Sunday to the astonishing joy of the empty tomb.

We’ll walk through the triumphal entry, the prophetic protest in the temple, and disputes with religious leaders. We’ll sit at the Last Supper, watch in the garden as Jesus prays in anguish, and stand at the trial and the cross. Along the way, we meet Judas’ betrayal, Peter’s failure, the crowd’s fickle shouts, a borrowed tomb, and the disciples’ crushing disappointment.

Then everything shifts. An empty tomb. Confused, grieving travelers on the Emmaus Road, whose hearts burn as Jesus opens the Scriptures and breaks bread.

Come see euphoria, struggle, doubt, and surprise coalesce in the One who prayed in anguish, conquered death, and reigns in resurrection. See how that week still changes everything for us today.

Luke 19:28 opens Jesus’ final week in Jerusalem with His triumphal entry. Fulfilling Zechariah’s prophecy, He arrives on a donkey while His disciples joyfully worship Him as King. Though they do not yet grasp what lies ahead, Jesus accepts their praise because He is indeed the Messiah. But as He looks over the city, He weeps over its coming judgment, the consequence of rejecting the One who came to bring peace. Entering the temple, Jesus performs a prophetic sign of judgment, not a cleansing. Echoing Jeremiah 7:11, He charges that God’s house has become a den of robbers. As in Jeremiah’s day, persistent disobedience means the temple itself will fall. Now Jesus indicates that Jerusalem’s judgment is certain, yet this announcement comes amid the tears of the King.
